Riding this trail in the fall when the leaf colors are at their best and early spring before the leaves come out are the best time to ride this trail. You get a great view of the hills and valleys as opposed to riding in green “tunnels”. That being said it’s a great trail to ride year round.
My wife and I love riding this trail whenever we can. Easy to get to, trail heads are very well done, restrooms (comfort stations) are spaced out quite well, beautiful scenery, trail in excellent condition.
On this most recent trip, a buddy and I wanted to get into bikepacking and I suggeste this trail to "cut our teeth". Had it planned all out, but at the last minute he had to back out. I decided I still wanted to do it so rode from Jersey Shore up to Hoffman Campground (which is stellar!), tent camped for the night, and came back the next day.
Wonderful experience all around...you will love this trail!
Quaint mostly mowed grass, flat , shady path that meanders along the quiet Genessee River. No trailhead at southern terminus. Several small parking areas with WAG Trail Kiosk along the way. Don’t confuse them with the DEC Fishing Lots. Northern terminus at City of Wellsville Water Station, but that’s about 2+ miles south of actual town. Hope there are plans to extend to Wellsville as nice downtown with lots of shops, restaurants and even a brew pub. Not worth a trip there again until they make it longer and put in a gravel path.
You can take your bike and you on the ATA bus from Saint Marys to Emporium trail head. This will give you the full day to ride or walk back to Saint Marys. Time departure 7:49am price $1.25.
We are older Gen X rail trail mountain bikers and we found this trail near where we were RV ing. It was relatively flat and about 5 miles round trip. The views along the creek were nice and the tunnel and bridge were neat. Our rating is due to the condition of the trail surface, which we found rocky, rough, and in need of maintenance in a few spots. We only encounter 2 other bikers and a few hikers. We believe with some improvements this would could hecome a more sought out destination.
A beautiful trail for walking only. There are signs stating no bikes, rollerblading, and no skateboarding.
Awesome ride. Just completed this incredible trail over two days. Rode Wellsboro to Jersey Shore with an overnight pause at Slate Run. The trail is an easy ride with spectacular views of nature. Can't wait to ride again.
Having completed 2/3 of trail beginning at jersey Shore, we decided to start at the northern end today. Beautiful ride in the gorge! Great picnic area at Darling Run. Will definitely return to ride again!
Drove about 3 hours to try this wonderful little trail. Parked at western terminus in Mifflinburg next to the Rusty Rail Brewing Company, which was a great post ride visit, and rode east to Lewisburg. At both ends of the trail are paved with crush ballast for most of the ride. Some soft gravel so stay in the worn track is recommended. Two cautions: watch the gates and poles as you cross the country roads and there is one very small disconnected section once into Lewisburg and need to cross US15. Recommend head north to light (with bike lane) cross and then ride up half a block and make a right. You'll run into trail that completes a few blocks later. Bonus are the facilities at both ends of the trail.
today was my first time on this trail and it is very pretty. I loved the 2 mile stretch my 2 dogs and I walked. I did not enjoy coming home and removing 30 tics from my dogs! if you take your dogs be very careful, try to stay on the gravel parts and avoid the grassy areas!!
